Paul K. Cannon was born and raised in Beloit, WI. He attended Burdge Elementary School, Lincoln and McNeel Jr. High Schools and graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in June 1989.
Paul was spiritually reared at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the apostolic leadership of the late Reverend U.S. Pride. As a young and gifted singer, Paul rendered many solos both at church and in the local community. Paul also exhibited strong oratory and communication skills at a very early age.
Immediately after graduating high school in 1989, Paul enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He attended recruit training (boot camp) at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA. His military occupations include infantryman, telecommunications specialist, mixed-martial arts instructor, military recruiter, strategic advisor and educator.
Paul’s military assignments have taken him all over the globe. His most interesting duty stations were San Diego, California; Stuttgart, Germany and Seoul, South Korea. Paul deployed to Iraq during the Global War on Terrorism for back-to-back tours in 2013, serving for 12 consecutive months.
After dedicating 22 years of honorable service, Paul retired as a Master Sergeant from the Marine Corps in April 2012. As a retired Marine, Paul most recently served as a high school teacher and JROTC Marine Instructor at Palm Bay Magnet High School in Palm Bay, FL.
Today, he is both a public speaker and community servant as a result of receiving effective mentorship within the Beloit community. And yes, he still sings at his local church and community in Central Florida. Paul is also an avid runner and participates in 5K runs and half-marathons each year.
Paul’s speaking engagements focus on leadership principles, conflict resolution, workplace diversity, public relations, journalism and youth mentorship.
Paul will soon pursue his doctorate degree in Communication while serving as an adjunct professor at Eastern Florida State College in Palm Bay, FL. His responsibilities include teaching and mentoring college students in public speaking and multi-media communication practices.
Paul’s educational background is as follows:
Bachelors of Science degree in Communication
– Kaplan University (2012)
Masters of Science degree in Mass Media and Journalism (with a certification in Public Relations)
– Clarion University of Pennsylvania (2018)
*Graduating Summa Cum Laude in both degree programs.
Paul is most thankful for a long and blissful marriage to his beautiful wife Maxine Cannon. They are the proud parents of three adult children. Paul, Jr (27), Nadjakeen (22), and Kennedy (18).
